Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Decode (“we”, “us”) collects when you use the site, why we collect it, and the control you have over it. Plain language, because the whole product is about saying the quiet part out loud.

The short version

  • You can use the translator without an account, and we don’t attach those translations to your identity.
  • We never sell your messages or your personal data. Full stop.
  • If you make an account, you can delete your history and your account whenever you want.

What we collect

  • What you paste. The message or conversation you submit is sent to our translation provider to generate a result, and — for common phrases — a translation may be cached so the next person gets an instant answer.
  • Account details. If you sign up, we store your email address to log you in and, for paying users, to tie your subscription to your account.
  • Usage limits. To enforce the free daily limit for anonymous visitors, we derive an identifier from your IP address and a token stored in your browser. The IP is hashed, never stored in the clear.
  • Product analytics. We use privacy-conscious analytics (PostHog) to count things like how often results get shared, so we can tell what’s working. We do not use this to build advertising profiles.
  • Payment data. Subscriptions are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number — Stripe does.

What we do with it

To run the product: generate translations, keep you logged in, remember your recent history, enforce fair-use limits, process payments, and improve the quality of the output. That’s the whole list.

Third parties we rely on

  • Our large-language-model provider, to generate translations and analyses.
  • Supabase, for authentication and database hosting.
  • Stripe, for subscription billing.
  • PostHog, for product analytics.

Each processes data only to provide their service to us, under their own terms.

Your controls

  • Use the tool anonymously and nothing is tied to you.
  • Clear your saved history from your account at any time.
  • Ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing support@decode.app.

Age

This product is for adults. It is not directed at anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged more loudly than a date bump.
